Welcome to April's Room #2
April is the third daughter and the heartbeat of the Rockwood Trail House. A fun-loving, hippie soul with a deep love for people and connection, April brings warmth and light wherever she goes. She’s a proud mother to her son Cooper, who just graduated high school—her world for the past 18 years and now ready to soar. In a twist of fate that proves love at first sight is real, April met Roxanne over two years ago when Rox was her home health physical therapist following a knee replacement (after a long history of sports and surgeries). From that day forward, their story began. In March 2025, April stepped fully into her dream role as manager of the Trail House, and it quickly became clear—this is what she was meant to do. With her beloved dogs Petey (16), Bella (6), and newly adopted Merlin (10), life at the Trail House is full of joy, purpose, and heart. As April says, “Life is good!”—and she makes sure it feels that way for everyone who walks through the door.
April’s Room is a cozy and inviting retreat located on the second floor of the Trail House. Featuring a queen-sized bed, a private bathroom with a full shower, and air conditioning for added comfort, this room offers a perfect balance of radiant energy and relaxation. Whether you're winding down after a day on the trail or enjoying a quiet morning, April’s Room provides a peaceful space to rest and recharge.
Welcome to Debbie's Room #3
Debbie is the heart and soul of our family—the love behind it all. As the devoted mother of four daughters, proud grandmother to two grandsons, and adoring great-grandmother to two beautiful great-granddaughters, her legacy of love spans generations. Debbie and her husband Lynn, married for over 50 years, raised their girls on a dairy farm where hard work and family came first. But her vision didn’t stop there—Debbie was the owner and operator of the Rockwood Trail House for 25 years. Together with Lynn, she transformed a vacant, run-down house into the warm, welcoming guest home it is today. Tireless, resourceful, and endlessly giving, she somehow managed to balance motherhood, farm life, and work without ever missing a beat. Her boundless energy and deep devotion continue to shine today. Whether she’s refinishing furniture, remodeling a room, tending her flower beds, babysitting Kehlani, or helping one of us with a project—Debbie is always in motion, always giving. Her knowledge is unmatched, her hands are never idle, and her love is ever-present. She’s not just amazing—she’s the foundation that holds us all together.
Debbie’s Room is a spacious and serene guest retreat located on the second floor of the Trail House. Thoughtfully designed for flexibility and comfort, the room features one queen bed and one single bed—perfect for accommodating up to three guests, or two guests who prefer separate sleeping arrangements (additional fee applies for use of both beds). It includes a private bathroom with a full shower and is equipped with air conditioning to ensure a relaxing and restful stay. With warm touches and plenty of space, Debbie’s Room is ideal for small groups or those seeking a little extra room to unwind.
Welcome to Darci’s Room #4
Darci is the youngest sister, a free-spirited, gypsy soul with a deep love for nature and everything that comes from the earth. Her connection to the world around her is beautiful and grounding, and her love for family runs deeper than words. No matter how busy life gets, Darci always makes time for those she loves, showing up with kindness, presence, and the most radiant smile. A dedicated beekeeper of over 20 years, her wisdom and craft in caring for bees is nothing short of remarkable—she brings a quiet magic to everything she touches. Her adventurous heart leads her to explore the world with courage and curiosity, never afraid to take a leap or try something new. With a work ethic that outshines most and a spirit that lights up any room, Darci is truly one of a kind. She shares her life with Tonya, and together they radiate happiness. Her beloved Irish Wolfhound, Sis, is never far from her side—a gentle, loving dog whose sweet nature is a reflection of Darci’s own.
Darci’s Room is a spacious and inviting guest room located on the second floor—slightly larger than our other accommodations, offering extra room to relax and unwind. This room features a queen bed and a single bed, making it ideal for up to three guests or two guests who prefer separate sleeping arrangements (additional fee applies for use of both beds). A private bathroom with a full shower ensures comfort and convenience, and air conditioning is provided for a restful stay. With its open feel and thoughtful touches, Darci’s Room is perfect for those seeking a little extra space during their visit.
Welcome to Cristy's Room #5
Cristy, the second oldest sister, was a force to be reckoned with—full of fire, passion, and strength. She was a natural competitor, a gifted athlete, and someone whose determination shone in everything she did. Her love for her son, Portter, was fierce and unwavering—there was no greater joy in her life than being his mother. Whether walking through the mountain trails or biking alongside him in nature, those moments were where her spirit felt most alive. Cristy’s smile could light up an entire room, and her love for animals and the outdoors was a reflection of her vibrant, untamed soul.
At just 26 years old, Cristy’s life was tragically cut short. She and her husband Curtis passed away in an automobile accident on Christmas Eve of 2001. Writing this is the hardest of all, because the loss of her continues to ache deeply in my heart and soul. Time may have moved forward, but her presence, her laughter, and her spirit remain with us every day. She is loved beyond words and missed beyond measure—a beautiful soul whose light will never fade.
Cristy’s Room is nestled on the second floor, offering a restful and inviting space for your stay. It features a comfortable queen bed, a private bathroom with a full shower, and air conditioning to ensure a pleasant and relaxing experience. This room is a quiet haven, created in honor of Cristy’s vibrant and loving spirit—a gentle space where guests can unwind and feel at home.
