About Us

In 1998, we purchased a long-forgotten Colonial-style home in Rockwood, Pennsylvania—a place rich in history but worn down by time. Once a vibrant general store in the 1950s, where my mom would buy penny candy as a child, the building had since become a neglected shell for years, and eventually vacant years prior to purchasing. But where others saw disrepair, we saw potential—and the beginning of something beautiful.

The vision belonged to my parents. Their dream to breathe new life into this home was bold, inspiring, and—at times—mind-blowing. Deb and Lynn were the heart and brains behind the transformation, pouring time and vision into every decision. My sister Darci was there through it all—working, sweating, and pushing through until the final touches were in place. Our grandparents, Merle and Grace, Betty and Gene, offered their hands and hearts to the project, spending countless days helping shape what would become the Rockwood Trail House.

It wasn’t easy. At one point, six yards of concrete had to be poured inside—for radiant floor heating—even on the second floor. But with Papal (Merle) creative mind and determination, nothing was impossible. The house was taken down to its bare bones and rebuilt with purpose, warmth, and a sense of family that you can still feel in every room.

Today, this once-forgotten house is a welcoming guest retreat—cozy, peaceful, and filled with stories. With rustic touches like barn beams from our family farm framing the great room, it’s a space to relax, reflect, and unwind from the day-to-day hustle. It’s more than a bed & breakfast—it’s a home built on love, legacy, and the spirit of possibility.
